Four major Port of Tacoma shipping terminals, Husky Terminal, Olympic Terminal, Pierce County Terminal and Washington United Terminal, will be shut down Monday to commemorate the birthday of labor leader Cesar Chavez.
Three other terminals, APM Terminal, Totem Ocean Trailer Express and Terminal 7, will be working Monday, but longshore workers will receive holiday overtime pay rates for their work.
The terminal closures prompted by the labor agreement between the Pacific Maritime Association and the International Longshore and Warehouse Union. The PMA represents shipping lines, ports and terminal operators on the West Coast.
